To Witness First Hand that Bali Remains Safe for Holiday Makers
With the generous support of Qatar Airways, a group of leading European travel agents traveled to Bali October 5-8, 2017 did the “grand tour” of major tourism areas across a wide area of South Bali, including Uluwatu, Jimbaran Beach and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park.
During the tour, the European visitors met local leaders from the Island’s tourism sector who explained that the majority that the zone under threat from any eruption is limited to a portion of the Regency of Karangasem within a 12-km radius of the mountain. Mount Agung is in the far north of Bali, and more than 60-km from Bali’s airport and the main tourist areas.
The area at risk has been evacuated to prevent injury and the loss of life. The Governor and other ranking officials remain confident that even should the mountain erupt, tourism activities will continue largely uninterrupted across the remaining parts of Bali.
